Underwater Drones Gold coast has recently been awarded a distributorship for PowerVision Tech (HK) Co Limited to distribute and sell their current marine drones in Australia. Currently, PowerVision has two marine drones on the market, the Power Ray a fully submersible underwater drone and the Power Dolphin a surface drone with underwater filming and sonar capability and described as the world's first multi-function water drone. The PowerVision's Power Ray UAV (unmanned aquatic vehicle) was first announced in January 2017 and was available on the market by April that same year. Power Ray is a small rugged, a remotely controlled underwater vehicle that has many applications throughout the marine world. Applications such as marine underwater photography and video making, underwater research, fish stock management, wreck recovery, the fishing industry and many other underwater tasks.
The Power Ray is controlled from the surface very much like an aerial drone with a controller but instead of free-flying the Power Ray has a tethering cord that carries wi. fi signals from the controller via the base station down to the drone. (wi fi doesn't work well underwater) a mobile app (Vision +) allows the operator to receive live-streaming direct to their mobile devices, also the tethering cord can act as a convenient recovery tool if there is any problem with the drone's controls. Power Ray has a dive depth of close to 100 ft ( 30 m) and is fitted with a fully integrated 4K UHD camera with live view of 1080p@30 fps & 12mp still photo's up to 5 fps.and two powerful headlights, and a built in depth holding capability, making it an ideal underwater photography platform. PowerVision was founded in 2009 and makes a variety of robotic devices including an aerial drone. They are known for their ability to think outside of the box and with the development of the Power Ray, they have proved that the culture of thinking outside of the norm can lead to something really useful with a myriad of applications within the marine environment.
